returning as the heron king in a flock of cranes...

Two essays down, one to go. My brain is fried.
So I figured its time to make another brief post
as a lot of new music has been leaked this week.
I'll take the time to make an actual mix again soon.

So the new St.Vicent album (Actor) leaked, and I've been quite enjoying it (and fantasize and muse over her).
  1. St. Vincent - The Strangers
  2. St. Vincent - Just The Same But Brand New
  3. St. Vincent - Laughing With A Mouth Of Blood
  4. St. Vincent - The Party

The enigmatic band The Shivers have a new album out. I can't really put my on their style, which in the past has been synth-dance and at other times springsteenish ballads. So here are two new songs and two old ones...

  1. The Shivers - Cold In The Morning #2
  2. The Shivers - Just Didnt Need To Know
  3. The Shivers - Soho Party
  4. The Shivers - Beauty

Also, two new live Beirut tracks surfaced and, continueing with my love for Balkan brass an Adrian Orange track whose lyrics I love.

  1. Beirut - East Harlem
  2. Beirut - La Javanaise (for some reason I think this is a serge gainsburg cover but im not sure)
  3. Adrian Orange & Her Band - Fire Dream

I really need to make a trip out to Montreal soon for music and friends. Tune-Yards is the Merrill Garbus who is the ukulele player in Sister Suvi (who, unfortunately a has members in the train wrecks called Islands) who remind me of a less cock-rock Bad Company and at others they seems to channel the Velvet Underground and Yard Birds.

  1. Tune-Yards - News
  2. Tune-Yards - When You Tell Lions
  3. Sister Suvi - Golden
  4. Sister Suvi - The Lot
  5. Sister Suvi - Lightning Train

Clues are also from Montreal and have a new self-titled album out. The band is Alden Penner (formerly of the Unicorns) and Brendan Reed (formerly of the Arcade Fire) and a host of other musicians who i'm sure have been in bands but I too lazy to google...

  1. Clues - Perfect Fit
  2. Clues - Cave Mouth
  3. The Unicorns - Tuff Ghost
  4. The Unicorns - Jellybones

Wooden Birds is the new project by American Analog Set frontman Andrew Kenny. Being a huge fan of AmAnSet I not sure if I'm sold on his new project yet, but in time I assume I will be.

  1. Wooden Birds - Quit You Once
  2. Wooden Birds - Never Know
  3. Wooden Birds - Hailey
  4. American Analog Set - Haily (demo0
  5. American Analog Set - Hard To Find

Scottish folk balad singer Alasdair Roberts has a new album (Spoils) out. To be honest I had forgot all about his work, he puts music to old poems or re-works folk ballads, and was pleasantly surprised when he popped back into my memory (plus it reminds me a lot of bonnie prince billy, who Roberts has collaborated with). I actually emailed him once for an album many years ago and he sent me two albums with a very nice hand written note, quite the guy. Here's on track of the new album and two old ones I love.

  1. Alasdair Roberts - Hazel Forks
  2. Alasdair Roberts - Magpies Nest
  3. Alasdair Roberts - As I Came By Huntly Town

And here is some other randow new stuff I have been enjoying recently.

  1. Woods - The Hold
  2. Haunted House - Sierra Trail
  3. Throw Me A Statue - Ship
  4. Mt. St. Helen Vietnam Band - Cheer For Fate
  5. White Rabbits - Percussion Gun
