.historic amnesia.

I once drove through the worst rain storm followed by heaviest fog I have ever experienced. I was somewhere between thunderbay and northbay at 4 in the morning following the two red tail lights of a semi (I had one burnt out headlight and couldn't see anything) and the only thing that got me through that experience was some afro-beat played as loud my car stereo could play.

Writing essays, though less traumatic, seems to bring out my craving for 'African music' or music inspired by the afro-beat, highlife, groat singing, etc...

so I have made a three part mix, that flows pretty nice if you follow the order...

  3. George Akaeze & His Augmented Hits - Business Before Pleasure
  4. The Don Isaac Ezekiel Combination - Amalinja
  5. Gilberto Gil/Jorge Ben - Taj Mahal
  6. Boozoo Bajou - Night over Manaus
  7. Group Inerane - Kuni Majagani

  1. Andrew Bird - Hot Math
  2. Plants and Animals - Guru
  3. Ducktails - Island Flavor
  4. El Guincho - Antillas
  5. Adrian Orange & Her Band - You're My Home
