i've got some first world problems:
- i burnt the tandoori hashbrowns this morning because the wireless i steal from my neighbours was at one bar and it took me a long time to get through the bbc news
- the polaris music prize short list is a farce (seems it is quickly following in the steps of the mercury music prize) choosen by a bunch of want to be scenester hacks who are in their mid to late 30's and have put on a little to much weight... luckly they still have their designer thick brimmed glasses and ironic facial hair... seriously, im going to stop but what the fuck is that list
- i find it very hard to find good avocado's in this city, sigh...
- my eyes hurt from reading to much but my visine is at the office and i don't feel like getting up and walking over there (my car is low on gas so i would drive but i dont want to go out to the canadian tire on bath because its a little out of the way)
- there is a unreleased women track floating around somewhere with a really nice cello backing but i can't remember where i streamed it or found it...
- highlife seems to have changed thier band name to real eyes... this is not the problem, the problem is i can't stop listening to the track tuareg dancehall but can't find it anywhere to download so i have to listen to it off the myspace (seriously go listen it sounds like a stoned destroyer with an african/animal collective backing band http://www.myspace.com/highlifehighlife )
- some people i know did an online recipe exchange and i wasnt included, fucking culinary terrorists
- i saw three young men who, judging by the shirts i see them wearing almost every day, must be lumberjacks... yet, i cannot figure out how they can cut down trees when they are manorexic... fucking d-bag small town hipsters...
- i wish my thesis was moving quicker, i havnt been able to play guitar for more than an hour a day in weeks
- i miss playing croquette and drinking beer with friends back home, double sigh
here is some stuff i've been listening to lately, not all of it is new, but some of it is i guess:
- the skygreen leopards - gorgeous johnny
- spoon - got nuffin'
- soy un caballo - robin (off a split ep with tunng)
- emily loizeau - la dernière pluie
- fleet foxes - blue spotted tail (live)
- yim yames - all things must pass (george harrison cover from the guy who sings for my morning jacket)
- the gaslight anthem - the weight (live cover of the band's classic)
- the woods - rain on the radio (off a new 7")
- the dodos - acorn factory
- mount eerie - ancient questions
- jj - ecstacy
- kurt vile - overnite religion (off his forthcoming album which i can't fucking wait for)
- forest swords - miarches
- atlas sounds - walkabouts (with animal collective's noah lennox)

ugh I just realized I have a new first world problem to deal with....destroyer and yo la tengo are playing Toronto on the same night...why would they do that!?
ReplyDeletemore pioulard you whiny maggot
ReplyDeletep.s. I am sure you already know this (you dirty skype music stalker / judger), but I am in love with the gaslight anthem. Punk rock needs more men who use hair grease and sound like real manly men. yeeeeah.
ReplyDeleteB - go see destroyer yo la tengo is good live but to be honest both times i saw then i wasnt blown away... although who are the openers, that may sway the decision...
ReplyDeleteBSQV - you are a slag, where is my women track
B - i have seen that you play a lot of gaslight anthem, but to be honest i was going to make a covers playlist of the band but there were not enough decent ones... buuut, i put it in as you are one of the few people who checks my blog (even though im unsure if you download as much as you should,lol...)... anyway yes, i was partially for you...
